GastroPark: A Food Truck Haven in Connecticut

GastroPark: A Food Truck Haven in Connecticut

A refreshingly progressive outdoor dining spot has opened up in the Elmwood section of West Hartford. GastroPark is a destination for anyone looking to immerse themselves in some of the best food truck cuisine and fun cocktail creations our state has to offer.

Every week they have a rotating schedule of trucks, always with some new options and some tried and true regulars like Fuego Picante, Iron & Grain Co, and Bears Smokehouse. They switch up the bar too, but it always has a selection of mixed drinks, local beers, and wine.

Due to restrictions on indoor dining during the pandemic, walk-up style food service has been having a real moment. Guests can grab and go directly from the food truck of their choice or stay and take a seat at one of the picnic tables outside.

For chilly days, the park has plenty of standing and table-top heaters to help warm diners up but bringing a cozy blanket for that extra warmth is recommended. As the weather gets colder, there will be an indoor space opening. Shari Vikmanis, one of the partners at GastroPark said that they hope to have the space open before the winter season kicks into high gear.

GastroPark was almost four years in the making and finally came to fruition a little over a month ago, according to Vikmanis. The space is great for getting together with friends or family and dogs are welcome.

GastroPark is easily accessed by the Trout Brook Trail if you live in the neighborhood but plenty of parking is available. Currently, they are open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner. Check the hours and the food truck schedule on the website and social links below.
