Welcome to Sip It CT.
Connecticut’s drink culture connection.
Welcome to Sip It CT! I’m Amanda Kenny, Bartender and student at Central Connecticut State University as a journalism major. I got into food and beverage industry initially to make quick money. I told myself it was just temporary until I figured out what I actually wanted to do.
Fourteen years later, I’m still here and I love it. I have been lucky enough to work with some of the most talented chefs, bartenders and owners and they have inspired me to continue learning and growing within my field. I am passionate about what I do and the level of creativity that working behind a great bar with an amazing and encouraging team grants you.
Here we will explore the trends, culture, and people that make up the beverage alcohol industry in Connecticut. We will discuss the latest ideas and innovations, history and tradition, and the faces and places leading it all. I want to showcase the industry as a local and worldwide community pushing the boundaries every day bringing new products and ideas to life for you to enjoy.
The goal here at Sip It CT is to drive the conversation forward and to continue to learn so we can improve the world around us with a sip and a smile. Cheers!
This blog was started before the world was in a global economic and health pandemic, so now the focus has shifted a little. With the rapidly declining state of the food and beverage industry, I found myself compelled to dedicate this space to the people and places that are affected by it.
I want to share the stories of those that are fighting to keep their doors open, the people working hard to save this industry, the businesses evolving to survive, and the new concepts and ideas that have spawned from this. I hope it allows readers to get a sense of the strength, creativity, and resilience this industry has.
We still need help. So, read, share, and support your favorite bars and restaurants the best way you can.
Thank you!
